Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Monrovia, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past Righetti 11-3 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won four contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Monrovia gave James Quesenbery the start and clearly made the right call: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). The Wildcats are undefeated when Quesenbery allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise.
At the plate, Troy Grise was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Ellison, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Monrovia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Monrovia's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
