Meanwhile, King City's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Seaside a 16-0 shutout. Considering the Mustangs have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Roman (RJ) Ayon and Joaquin Sabala were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Ayon tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sabala struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At bat, Ayon got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Sabala went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Ayon is becoming a predictor of King City's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-5 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, King City let Dylan Conatser and Nicholas Tankersley run wild. Conatser went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple, while Tankersley went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Conatser a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Manriquez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
King City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Everett Alvarez's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for King City, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
