The Sage Creek Bobcats suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 54-30 walloping at the hands of Oceanside. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sage Creek has scored all season.
Harmony Lawler and Gia Kiesling certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Lawler scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and four blocks, while Kiesling scored four points along with nine rebounds and six steals. Lawler is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Oceanside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Martina Griffin, who scored 20 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Griffin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nalia Nuanez, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Sage Creek's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Oceanside, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.
Sage Creek will be playing at home against Torrey Pines at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Torrey Pines focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday. Oceanside won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mater Dei Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Mater Dei Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Tuesday.
