Jim Thorpe is 10-0 against Pottsville since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Jim Thorpe Olympians will head out on the road to face off against the Pottsville Crimson Tide at 7:30 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Jim Thorpe was the victim of a rough 64-40 loss at the hands of Panther Valley. While losing is never fun, Jim Thorpe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while Panther Valley is ranked 102nd).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kiara Ginopolas, who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Julianna Bowen was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, Pottsville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 50-44 to Tamaqua.
Jim Thorpe's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Pottsville, they bumped their record down to 0-2 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Jim Thorpe beat Pottsville 39-32 in their previous matchup back in January. Does Jim Thorpe have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pottsville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
