It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Marietta Blue Devils can now relate to. They took a 34-15 bruising from Westlake on Friday. While losing is never fun, Marietta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Westlake is ranked 14th).
Chase McCravy threw for 223 yards and a touchdown. Bobby Butler was his top target, picking up 87 receiving yards. On the ground, Russell Bey rushed for 27 yards.
Marietta's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Westlake, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Marietta does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Westlake will head out on the road to face off against Colquitt County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Colquitt County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
