The Beverly Hills Normans are taking a road trip to face off against the Lawndale Cardinals at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Beverly Hills is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
On Friday, Beverly Hills earned a 5-2 victory over St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy.
Beverly Hills let Joe Rendon and Cameron Park run wild. Rendon scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Park scored a run while going 2-for-4. Ty Sayles also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Lawndale had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Apaches. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won nine contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Christian Lopez and Seth Alex Rodriguez made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Lopez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rodriguez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lopez has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Lopez scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Blake Maldonado, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jovany Damien Nunez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Beverly Hills pushed their record up to 4-7-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Lawndale, their record now sits at 12-4.
Beverly Hills might still be hurting after the 17-1 loss they got from Lawndale when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can the Normans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
