The St. Paul Swordsmen's's and the Don Lugo Conquistadores's contest on Tuesday was close at halftime, but the St. Paul Swordsmen turned on the heat in the second half with 34 points. St. Paul claimed a resounding 57-30 win over Don Lugo on the road.
Don Lugo's loss came despite strong showings from Sarah Magadan and Belen Perez. Magadan scored 18 points along with five rebounds, while Perez scored two points.
The win got St. Paul back to even at 7-7. As for Don Lugo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.
St. Paul is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Vista Murrieta at 11:30 a.m. on December 27th. Vista Murrieta will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 744th, while St. Paul is ranked 332nd). Don Lugo will finish 2023 at home by hosting Rancho Verde at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Rancho Verde will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
