The Pleasant Grove Eagles will take on the Laguna Creek Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Pleasant Grove turned things around against Franklin on Friday. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 3-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since April 24, 2024.

Pleasant Grove got a great performance from Justin Dougan as he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits. What's more, Dougan posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Pleasant Grove saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Liam Bantau, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Laguna Creek put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They never let Sheldon get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won nine matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Not much got past Joseph Rumbaoa, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Sheldon off the board. Rumbaoa also tossed a walk, which is notable because Laguna Creek is 8-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-8 otherwise.
At the plate, Laguna Creek got a massive performance out of KJ Winn, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Tyger Peterson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Laguna Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sheldon only posted an OBP of .200.
Laguna Creek is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11.
Pleasant Grove took their win against Laguna Creek in their previous matchup back in May of 2021 by a conclusive 17-0 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
