Great Oak hasn't had much luck against Vista Murrieta recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Wolfpack will look to defend their home field against the Broncos at 3:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Great Oak hadn't beaten Murrieta Valley on the road since April 14, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Wolfpack were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Nighthawks. That looming 11-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wolfpack yet this season.

Roy Kim looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Great Oak is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-9 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Great Oak's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Reagan Ricken, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Ricken has posted since back in April of 2024. Jaxon Valenzuela was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Vista Murrieta sidestepped Temecula Valley for a 10-9 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Broncos.
Dylan Berentis tossed a big game, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.
At the plate, Vista Murrieta let RJ Holmes and Derrick Kraus run wild. Holmes went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one double, while Kraus went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Adams, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Vista Murrieta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Vista Murrieta's victory bumped their record up to 10-5-1. As for Great Oak, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Great Oak has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Vista Murrieta struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Great Oak might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Vista Murrieta when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Wolfpack have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
