Oak Grove is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Santa Teresa is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Oak Grove Eagles will take on the Santa Teresa Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Oak Grove proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 27) but on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Silver Creek and snuck past 50-48.
Emilie Ngo continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Oak Grove's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maleya Balinton, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Santa Teresa scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 61-54 win over Prospect. That's two games straight that Santa Teresa has won by exactly seven points.
Santa Teresa's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nevaeh Lacy, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lacy has scored all season. Dahlia Daboul was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Oak Grove is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. As for Santa Teresa, their win bumped their record up to 15-8.
Tuesday's contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Ngo and Lacy. Ngo has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 24.6 points and 1.1 rebounds. For her part, Lacy has averaged 11.6 points, 3.9 steals, and 4.9 rebounds.
Oak Grove skirted past Santa Teresa 42-39 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Oak Grove repeat their success, or does Santa Teresa have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
