Baseball Recap: Olympian Starts Season with Victory at Home

Olympian took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 27-3 margin over the Kearny Komets. The Eagles have beaten the Komets the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Komets has come to flipping the script.

Aaron Gonzalez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aramis Berrios, who went 5-for-6 with six RBI, four runs, and three doubles. Another player making a difference was Tristan Ong, who scored four runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Olympian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .642. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kearny only posted an OBP of .280.

Olympian has already played their next contest, a 12-2 victory against Canyon Crest Academy on the 4th. As for Kearny, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 13-0 defeat against San Dieguito Academy on the 4th.
