Miller has gone a perfect 10-0 against Pacific recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Rebels will look to defend their home field against the Pirates at 3:45 p.m. Miller is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Miller needed a bit of extra time to put away Indian Springs. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the COYOTES, sneaking past 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rebels have posted since May 16, 2025.
Matthew Almeraz got the start for Miller and what a start it was: he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Almeraz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Elian Salas was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Adrian Quintana, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, while Pacific put up plenty of runs last Wednesday, the same can't be said for Public Safety Academy. The Pirates put the hurt on the Phoenix with a sharp 25-0 win. The Pirates have beaten the Phoenix the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Phoenix has come to flipping the script.
Edgar Aguilar was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Aguilar was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Pacific's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 2-1 (and 2-5-1 when he doesn't).
Pacific always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .612. They are undefeated (2-0) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Miller's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Pacific, their win bumped their record up to 4-6-1.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Miller has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .475. However, it's not like Pacific struggles in that department as they've averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Miller got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Pacific by a conclusive 13-0 score. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
