Arvada West is a perfect 10-0 against Bear Creek since September of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. Morgan Farr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Arvada West saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Macie Ferguson, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Bear Creek scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against Lakewood, falling 18-10.
Jasmynn Jimenez and Isabella Orozco stepped up to the plate in a big way. Jimenez went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Orozco went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Kylee Warner was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Bear Creek's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Arvada West, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7.
Bear Creek's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Arvada West has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Bear Creek, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Arvada West's sizable advantage in that area, the Bears will need to find a way to close that gap.
Arvada West took their win against Bear Creek in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 13-1 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
