Mount Vernon Gets a Boost from Witherspoon in 42-35 Loss
Starting off the list is Mount Vernon's Dawson Witherspoon, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Witherspoon picked up 26 receiving yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 131 yards. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 131 rushing yards dating back to last season.
Mount Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. Witherspoon and Mount Vernon will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Winnsboro at 7:00 p.m. on October 25th.

Taisean Sheilds Crosses Big Stat Threshold
Taisean Sheilds continued his hot streak on Friday by dropping his third-straight game (dating back to last season) with at least 105 rushing yards. He rushed for 184 yards while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (110.2).
Rains's victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4. Sheilds will try to repeat (or improve) on that dominant performance when he faces off against Winnsboro on Friday.

The second Rains player making an appearance here is Jabari Shields, and for good reason. He rushed for 208 yards while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 96 yards and a touchdown.
