Softball Recap: Lisbon Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Lisbon had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Maquoketa Valley Wildcats 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since June 23rd.

Lisbon pushed their record up to 19-12 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Maquoketa Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 21-10.

Lisbon wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-0 victory against Midland on the 1st. As for Maquoketa Valley, they will head out to challenge Edgewood-Colesburg at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.2, the Vikings 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
