First Coast is 4-0 against Englewood since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The First Coast Buccaneers will look to defend their home court against the Englewood Rams at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Englewood is hoping to do what KIPP Bold City couldn't on Friday: put an end to First Coast's winning streak, which now stands at five games. First Coast walked away with a 59-46 victory over KIPP Bold City.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead First Coast to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amari Walton, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 boards. Walton also posted five blocks, which is notable because First Coast is 3-1 when he posts at least five blocks, but 2-3 otherwise. Christian Williams was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten boards.
First Coast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Englewood). They came out on top against River City Science Academy by a score of 62-50 on Monday. The win was some much needed relief for the Rams as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Englewood's win came from a few key players First Coast will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Vincent Witherspoon, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Mitchell, who posted eight points along with six rebounds and five assists.
First Coast's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Englewood, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: First Coast hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 58.3 points per game. It's a different story for Englewood, though, as they've been averaging only 35.8 points. The only thing between First Coast and another offensive beatdown is Englewood. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything came up roses for First Coast against Englewood in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 67-35 victory. In that contest, First Coast amassed a halftime lead of 33-13, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
