Heritage is 9-1 against Antioch since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Patriots will welcome the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Antioch will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Heritage extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Patriots put the hurt on Freedom with a sharp 8-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Heritage's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jason Stevens, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one run. Trevor Thomas was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freedom only posted an OBP of .160.
Meanwhile, Antioch got themselves on the board against Deer Valley on Thursday, but Deer Valley never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Wolverines. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Zack Gregson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gregson was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Antioch let Stanton Westhorpe and Kamari Davis run wild. Westhorpe went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Davis went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Westhorpe has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Braeden O'Brien, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Heritage's win bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Antioch, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.
Antioch's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Heritage hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. It's a different story for Antioch, though, as they've only averaged .235. Will they be able to contain Heritage's hitters?
Heritage took their win against Antioch in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
