South Central recap October 8, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to St. Peter, who defeated 59th ranked Blue Earth, 21-20.
The Saints scaled the state rankings by moving to 97 from 126 this week, the biggest jump in South Central. St. Peter climbed the ranks as a result of besting the Buccaneers 21-20.
New Ulm's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Blake Piotter contributed 76 yards.
Piotter provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Eagles fell to Waseca. He completed 3 passes for 17 yards and also ran for 76 yards.
Piotter was the best running back in the league this week. Bryan Dewanz also contributed to the rushing game with 40 yards on the ground.
New Ulm's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Piotter has thrown for 183 yards and 1 touchdown this season, while Jackson Yackley has 12 catches for 135 yards.
The Bluejays are currently in first, while St. James is in fifth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Blue Earth takes on Fairmont. The Buccaneers have allowed 82 points this season, while the Cardinals have given up 93.
Waseca extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating New Ulm, 42-6. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
