Plattsburg and West Platte are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2017, but likely not for long. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Bluejays at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Plattsburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Plattsburg will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Stewartsville on Monday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Cardinals. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Penelope Irizarry made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in October of 2024.
In other batting news, Lilly Nelson was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophie Schmitten, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Plattsburg lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, West Platte sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Lawson on Thursday.
Like Plattsburg, West Platte also got a great game from a two-way player: Sophie Grier. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Grier has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Grier wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Addy Hughes, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Maddie Cline was another, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
West Platte's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Plattsburg, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
West Platte's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Plattsburg hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326.
