Baseball Recap: Manteca Has No Trouble Against Ripon

Manteca barely beat Ripon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went the Manteca Buffaloes' way against the Ripon Indians on Friday as the Manteca Buffaloes made off with an 18-2 win. That's more bragging rights for the Buffaloes, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cameron Jimenez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Nate Slikker was a standout: he scored four runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Edward Anthony, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Manteca hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in five consecutive matchups.

Manteca's record now sits at 6-1. As for Ripon, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Manteca will head out to take on Patterson at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Manteca's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Patterson's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Ripon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kimball at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ripon has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
