The Yerba Buena Aztec Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Gunderson Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Yerba Buena was able to grind out a solid win over San Jose, taking the game 35-27. The victory was just what Yerba Buena needed coming off of a 53-15 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Gunderson didn't have too much trouble with James Lick at home on Tuesday as they won 42-26. The win made it back-to-back wins for Gunderson.
Gunderson's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Chiemi Wong, who scored 18 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds, and Breanna Bartek, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wong has scored all season.
Yerba Buena's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-9. As for Gunderson, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Yerba Buena didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Gunderson in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 38-32 victory. Does Yerba Buena have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gunderson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
