Football Recap: Kennedy Piles Up the Points Against Sylmar

Kennedy won against Panorama last Friday with 42 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Cougars blew past the Sylmar Spartans 42-13. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Diego Montes produced another solid performance rushing for 200 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 137 yards and a pair of TDs. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2024. Josue Sandoval was another key player, gaining 124 total yards and a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Kennedy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 269 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Kennedy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Max Zepeda and Jayvon Carter.

Despite the loss, Sylmar still got an impressive performance from Tim Tanner Jr, who rushed for 33 yards and one score, and also threw for 125 yards and one touchdown.

Kennedy's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Sylmar, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.
