Baseball Recap: Augusta Prep Day Wins Going Away Against Greene County

Augusta Prep Day won the last time they faced Greene County and things went their way on Friday too. The Augusta Prep Day Cavaliers were the clear victor by a 22-2 margin over the Greene County Tigers. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 13 runs or more this season.

Dakota Dunn was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Augusta Prep Day is 2-1 when Dunn allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Dunn was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Ayden Payne was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Augusta Prep Day's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Parker Hollimon was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBI.

Augusta Prep Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got Augusta Prep Day back to even at 4-4. As for Greene County, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
