The Gilbert Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Chandler Wolves at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Gilbert barely beat Dobson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 14-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Tigers have beaten the Mustangs the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mustangs has come to flipping the script.
Thatcher Johnson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Gilbert is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Tyler Silvestre and Cameron Foegal did most of the damage at the plate: Silvestre went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Foegal went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three hits gave Foegal a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Kenas, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
Gilbert kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Chandler got the win against Skyridge on Saturday by a conclusive 9-1.
Chandler also got a great performance from Zayden Peltz as he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Peltz has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Dylan Lopez was excellent, going 1-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Jace Harrell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Gilbert's record now sits at 8-5. As for Chandler, their record is now 11-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Gilbert has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Chandler struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Gilbert suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Chandler when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
