The Santa Ynez Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Nordhoff Rangers at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Santa Ynez is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Bishop Diego an 18-0 shutout on Monday. The Pirates not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since February 15, 2024.

02/26/25 vs Pioneer Valley | 6 |

Tate Minus was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Santa Ynez got a massive performance out of Hayden Blunt, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Jaxon Glover was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Santa Ynez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Diego only posted an OBP of .118.
Meanwhile, Nordhoff won against Ojai Valley on Friday with 22 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Nordhoff beat Ojai Valley by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 22-5. Winning may never get old, but the Rangers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Like Santa Ynez, Nordhoff also got a great game from a two-way player: Johnny Perez. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Perez was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Scotty Luttenberger was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Middough, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
The win made it two in a row for Santa Ynez and bumps their season record up to 2-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Nordhoff, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Santa Ynez has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Nordhoff struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Santa Ynez suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Nordhoff when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Santa Ynez avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
