Blaine (Minn.) captured the lead in overtime and held on for a 20-14 victory over
Champlin Park (Champlin, Minn.) on Saturday. The Bengals took the lead for good when
*Alex Copa ran for a touchdown.
After nabbing the lead on a touchdown pass by
Max Biegert to
Marty Hill, the Rebels went into halftime with a 14-7 lead. The Bengals scored the winning points with a Copa touchdown run that came in the fifth quarter.
Coming into the game Blaine had allowed 28.2 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding Champlin Park right around its season average of 12.8 points scored per game.
Blaine (4-2) goes up against Centennial in a Northwest Suburban game matchup next week, while Champlin Park (2-4) locks horns with Anoka also in a Northwest Suburban game.
