The Rider Raiders lost against the Saginaw Rough Riders back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Rider fell 58-49 to Saginaw. While losing is never fun, Rider can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 649th, while Saginaw is ranked 133rd).
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caiden Reed, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. Reed hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Cohee, who scored ten points.
Rider's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-15. As for Saginaw, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 21-5.
Rider will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Aledo at 7:30 p.m. Aledo and Rider are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Saginaw, they will head out on the road to square off against Northwest at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
