Brody Brown made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Trinity Lutheran is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-9 otherwise. Brown was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Wyatt Huff was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Trinity Lutheran is 3-1 when Huff posts two or more runs, but 6-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Bode Brooks, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Trinity Lutheran hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crothersville struck out ten times.
Meanwhile, Jac-Cen-Del waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They had just enough and edged out the Indians 3-1.
Like Trinity Lutheran, Jac-Cen-Del also got a great game from a two-way player: Neil Sullivan. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Sullivan has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Sullivan wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sam Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
The victory got Trinity Lutheran back to even at 9-9. As for Jac-Cen-Del, their win bumped their record up to 15-8.
Trinity Lutheran skirted past Jac-Cen-Del 4-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
