The Bishop O'Dowd Dragons will venture away from home to square off against the Piedmont Highlanders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bishop O'Dowd is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Bishop O'Dowd's tournament run continued when they took on Central Catholic last Thursday. The Dragons fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 2-1. The contest marked the Dragons' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Bishop O'Dowd saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Stewart, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Stewart is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another was Lucas Partrite, who earned one run and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Piedmont). They put the hurt on Nipomo with a sharp 12-4 victory on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Highlanders considering their two-run performance the game before.
Jonah Cha-Foster made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cha-Foster was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs. Piedmont is 4-2 when Cha-Foster posts two or more runs, but 2-6-2 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Massimo Mittone tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Piedmont is 3-0-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-8 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Ben Sorensen was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Cyrus Emanuelson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Piedmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
The win snapped Piedmont's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-8-2 record. As for Bishop O'Dowd, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
Piedmont's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bishop O'Dowd hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. It's a different story for Piedmont, though, as they've only averaged .257. Will they be able to contain Bishop O'Dowd's hitters?
Everything went Bishop O'Dowd's way against Piedmont when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Bishop O'Dowd made off with a 6-0 victory. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Highlanders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
