While Cherokee Bluff's victory against Winder-Barrow wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bears had just enough and edged out the Bulldoggs 6-5 on Wednesday.
Bubba Coleman was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Ethan England also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, in Thursday's Canine Competition, Wesleyan came out on top. They walked away with a 6-1 win over Forsyth Central on Thursday.
Thomas Pressman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brice Gillis, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-2. Carter Hayes was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
The victory got Wesleyan back to even at 2-2. As for Cherokee Bluff, their record now sits at 5-0.
Wesleyan's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cherokee Bluff hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. It's a different story for Wesleyan, though, as they've only averaged .245. Will they be able to contain Cherokee Bluff's hitters?
Cherokee Bluff skirted past Wesleyan 12-11 in their previous meeting last Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
