If Lakeview Academy beats Lanier Christian Academy with 19 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Lakeview Academy's pitcher stepped up to hand Horizon Christian Academy a 19-0 shutout on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.
Collin Waldrop was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Beau Day was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Tavarus Dowdy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Lakeview Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Horizon Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .182.
Meanwhile, everything went Lanier Christian Academy's way against Trinity Classical on Thursday as Lanier Christian Academy made off with a 15-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lightning.
Like Lakeview Academy, Lanier Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Hayden Davis. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave Davis a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gavin Strabala, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-2. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Earl Adamson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Lakeview Academy's record now sits at 2-0. As for Lanier Christian Academy, their record is now an identical 2-0.
