After flying high against the Esparto Spartans back in December of 2023, the Maxwell Panthers came back down to earth. Maxwell was dealt a 58-20 defeat at the hands of Hamilton on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Maxwell has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Maxwell still got an impressive performance from Emma Hendrix, who almost dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 13 rebounds, and nine steals. That was a full 55% of Maxwell's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailee Haywood, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Maxwell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Hamilton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sheri Enneking, who scored 11 points along with two steals and two blocks. Hanne Porter was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Maxwell's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Hamilton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5.
Maxwell will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against CORE Butte at 5:30 p.m. As for Hamilton, they will head out on the road to take on Biggs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Biggs will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
