McKinleyville took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Eureka, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Loggers 4-3. The victory was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on five straight.
Kolbey Stolpe made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other pitching news, McKinleyville got a great performance from Joe Tanno as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.
Stolpe wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rhythm Green, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most hits Green has posted since back in March. Another was Pat Wison, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
McKinleyville's record is now 21-6. As for Eureka, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.
