After only two runs in their last contest, Bremen made sure to put some runs up on the board against Crossroads Christian on Saturday. The Braves never let the CRU get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Braves, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Jack Banda made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had over his last five games. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Bremen's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 2-10 when he doesn't).
In other pitching news, AJ Herrera got the start for Bremen and what a start it was: he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Herrera has become a key player for the Braves: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 5-11 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Aiden Gonzales was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Carlos Soto, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Bremen hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crossroads Christian struck out eight times.
Bremen is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Crossroads Christian, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bremen will welcome Oak Forest at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Crossroads Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Beecher at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The CRU's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
