The Orange Glen Patriots managed to keep up with the Southwest SD Raiders until halftime on Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Orange Glen's tough 56-30 loss to Southwest SD might stick with them for a while. Orange Glen has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Southwest SD found their leader in underclassman Pilar Carrera, who scored 30 points along with 6 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Carrera has scored at least 25% of Southwest SD's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazlyn Martinez, who scored 9 points along with 5 steals.
Orange Glen's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Southwest SD, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
Orange Glen will head out on the road to face off against Escondido Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Escondido Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday. As for Southwest SD, they will be playing at home against Valhalla at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valhalla is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
