Basketball Game Preview: Penn Cambria Panthers vs. Central Dragons

Penn Cambria has gone 7-1 against Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The two teams will round out the year against one another at at 4:30 p.m. Penn Cambria is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Penn Cambria came up short against Central Cambria and fell 41-34. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was MaKenna McCoy, who posted nine points and seven rebounds. McCoy is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Reagan Ronan, who had seven points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Penn Cambria smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Central played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Bishop Guilfoyle an easy 53-29 victory. The defeat continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Marauders: they've now lost five in a row.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Penn Cambria, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Penn Cambria beat Central 61-50 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Does Penn Cambria have another victory up their sleeve, or will Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
