Even though the Sage Creek Bobcats have not done well against the Carlsbad Lancers recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Sage Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against Carlsbad and snuck past 42-39. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Sage Creek has posted since January 5th.
Sage Creek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gia Kiesling out in front who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine steals. Kiesling continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Harmony Lawler was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds.
Sage Creek's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-9. As for Carlsbad, their loss dropped their record down to 15-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sage Creek will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against San Dieguito Academy at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th. Sage Creek is facing San Dieguito Academy at the right time seeing as San Dieguito Academy is stuck on a 11-game losing streak. As for Carlsbad, they will head out on the road to take on Oceanside at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Oceanside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday.
