It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Quince Orchard Cougars can now relate to. They fell just short of Northwest by a score of 29-26. Quince Orchard's defeat signaled the end of their 23-game winning streak dating back to last season.
Northwest's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Vongprachanh-Nelson, who picked up nine receiving yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 244 yards and a touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Berry, who gained 111 total yards and a touchdown.
Quince Orchard's defeat dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Northwest, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Quince Orchard does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Northwest will be playing at home against Broadneck at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Broadneck is ranked 32nd, while Northwest is ranked 19th).
