The Kern Valley Broncs have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 41-33 to Rosamond on Tuesday. Kern Valley has not had much luck with Rosamond recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Kern Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jessie Bunting, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 20 rebounds. Bunting is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elli Jeans, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds.
Ariel Cain was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and five steals for Rosamond. That makes it five consecutive games in which Cain has scored at least a third of Rosamond's points. Another player making a difference was Kiley Perez, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Kern Valley's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Rosamond, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 19-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kern Valley will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against California City at 5:00 p.m. on February 8th. Kern Valley is facing California City at the right time seeing as California City is stuck on a 17-game losing streak. As for Rosamond, they will head out on the road to challenge Desert at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Desert is on a three-game streak of home wins, Rosamond a eight-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
