Baseball Recap: Riverdale's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Riverdale had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They never let the Stone Mountain Pirates get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by ten runs or more this season.

Jacob Rachmann made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Riverdale is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4 otherwise. Rachmann was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Joel Rachmann was a standout: he scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Riverdale's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Dashward Zeck also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Riverdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .818. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got Riverdale back to even at 5-5. As for Stone Mountain, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverdale will square off against Mt. Zion at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Stone Mountain, they will take on Mt. Zion at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
