The Ellwood City Wolverine stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Riverside 60-31 at home. Given Ellwood City's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Riverside is ranked 542nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Claire Noble was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points. Delaney Sturgeon was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Ellwood City is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Riverside, they dropped their record down to 4-11 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Ellwood City will square off against Mohawk Area at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Riverside, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Neshannock at 7:30 p.m.
