Baseball Recap: Gridley Wins Going Away Against Kearny

Gridley's tournament run continued when they took on Kearny on Monday. Gridley put the hurt on Kearny with a sharp 13-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Will Yost and Marcus Duncan dominated on the mound. Yost tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits, while Duncan pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Yost a new career-low in walks (one).

At the plate, Tanner Abbott was a standout: he scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Aceson Gomez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Gridley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Gridley's record now sits at 7-4. As for Kearny, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Gridley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-3 win against Windward on the 31st. As for Kearny, they will be taking part in a tournament against Gridley at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
