The Charleroi Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 47-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Yough. Charleroi lost against Yough in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 54-38 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Charleroi had strong showings from Ella Sypolt, who scored 15 points, and Riley Jones, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Camryn Musser, who scored seven points.
Charleroi has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Yough, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charleroi won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Ringgold at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. As for Yough, they will be playing at home against Waynesburg Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Waynesburg Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
