Sweetwater has been on the road for three straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Polk County Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
Sweetwater fell victim to Loudon's stalwart defense two weeks ago and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Redskins, falling 27-0.
Meanwhile, Polk County also never made a goal in their most recent game. They took a 7-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Meigs County on Friday. While losing is never fun, Polk County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Meigs County is ranked 73rd).
Sweetwater's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.75 points per game. Polk County has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Sweetwater against Polk County in their previous matchup back in October of 2020 as the team secured a 49-0 victory. Does Sweetwater have another victory up their sleeve, or will Polk County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
