Basketball Recap: Menlo-Atherton's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Menlo-Atherton easily dispatched Aragon last Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Menlo-Atherton Bears fell just short of the Half Moon Bay Cougars by a score of 55-52 on Friday. The Bears' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Half Moon Bay was led to victory by Zoey Lemoge and Delaney Dorwin. Lemoge went 9-for-11 to rack up 19 points and eight boards, while Dorwin dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lemoge has scored at least a third of Half Moon Bay's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makena Glynn, who posted three points and eight assists.

Menlo-Atherton's loss dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Half Moon Bay, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Menlo-Atherton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-37 win against Hollister on the 25th. As for Half Moon Bay, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 46-40 victory against Terra Nova on the 15th.
