The Mountain Ridge Sentinels will be playing at home against the Copper Hills Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Ridge has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 12.
Last Friday, Mountain Ridge was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-51 to Herriman. While losing is never fun, Mountain Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Herriman is ranked tenth).
Despite the loss, Mountain Ridge got a solid performance out of Spencer Krainich, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Krainich hasn't dropped below two blocks for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Jake Allen, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Copper Hills scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Wednesday. They snuck past Syracuse with a 75-70 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Mountain Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Copper Hills, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Mountain Ridge ended up a good deal behind Copper Hills in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, losing 59-44. Can Mountain Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
