Hammond won the last time they faced Independence and things went their way on Friday too. It was close, but the Hammond Tornadoes ultimately received the gift of a 53-51 win from a begrudging Tornadoes squad. The victory made it back-to-back wins for they.

Hammond's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordin Lewis, who posted 14 points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Carbo, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points.

Independence's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jayden Anderson, who put up 18 points, and Haymann Milton, who had 14 points. Another player making a difference was Cardarious Jones, who posted seven points.

Hammond has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Independence, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Hammond didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 77-56 defeat against Ponchatoula on the 21st. As for Independence, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 79-63 loss against Loranger on the 21st.
