The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Hammond Tornadoes (Hammond, LA) and the host Independence Tigers (Independence, LA), observed Hammond's basketball team edge Independence by a score of 53-51.

The Tornadoes (9-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Salmen (Slidell, LA). The Spartans come into the non-league challenge with a 7-7 record.
