The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Hammond Tornadoes (Hammond, LA) and the host Independence Tigers (Independence, LA), observed Hammond's basketball team edge Independence by a score of 59-58.

The Tornadoes (7-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Denham Springs (Denham Springs, LA). The Yellowjackets come into the non-league challenge with a 10-0 record. In their last challenge, Denham Springs edged French Settlement (French Settlement, LA), 78-40, in a non-league challenge.
