The Basehor-Linwood Bobcats will square off against the Blue Valley Southwest Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Basehor-Linwood has eight straight wins, Blue Valley Southwest has 14 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
It was a proper cat-fight when Basehor-Linwood took on Lansing on Friday. The Bobcats put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 42-20 victory. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Lions are ranked 139th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Basehor-Linwood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Mitchell, who rushed for 56 yards and a pair of TDs.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Noah Gutierrez, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Blue Valley Southwest and Blue Valley Northwest had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Timberwolves came up short against the Huskies on Friday, falling 33-10. Having soared to a lofty 33 points in the game before, the Timberwolves couldn't push the score so high this time.
Basehor-Linwood will have to contain AJ Keuwo as he made an impact in Blue Valley Southwest's last game. He rushed for 209 yards and one touchdown while picking up 11.6 yards per carry, and also picked up 34 receiving yards. Keuwo showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 58 yards.
Basehor-Linwood's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Blue Valley Southwest, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
